RapMan day 7: The machine comes to life
Of course, no 3d printing without the print head. So next: extruder.
Today: Added belts and the printing bed, laid the cables through the conduits.
Next: Adding electronics
Not much time to continue with the RapMan assembly today. Added the X carriage with the extruder mount and the Y motor.
Today: adjusting the geometry, adding the x motor and the rails.
And the replacement part arrived today! Thanks BitsFromBytes for the quick delivery!
Now we are talking! Finally I have something which looks like eventually becoming a 3D printer. Z-stage is mostly complete now.
Still waiting for the replacement part for the broken piece, I hope it will arrive before I need it.
Another 3 hours of assembling my RapMan. And listening to Chaos Radio Express 138 "Basteln im 21. Jahrhundert - Die Demokratisierung des Produktionswissens" (http://chaosradio.ccc.de/cre138.html). If you speak German, listen to it, very recommended! And for this current project this is exactly the right subject!
Didn't get very far. And I need to buy a 1.5mm Allen key.
Good news: BitsFromBytes promised to send a replacement for the broken part.
My RapMan kit arrived today. Luckily it was much faster than the 5 weeks delivery time they had written on the web site. But there was an unpleasant surprise too: One piece is broken. It's part of the extruder and I can start building with the cartesian robot, so there's still hope to get a replacement part before I actually need it. Let's see how good BitsFromBytes' support is.
